"Forget me" always activated

More privacy for Android Brave:
“Forget me when I close this site”

Suggestion: make this option as standard activated:
clear all browsing data on exit but leave exceptions for specific sites.

Deactivation manually.

Having this option enabled by default would cause confusion for many users, as they would find themselves logged out of any accounts they signed into during their session, along with any [desired] saved cookies from that session.

It is better to have this option “off” by default and allow users to choose whether or not they want the browser to clear their data when the site and/or the browser is closed.

yes, i thought of that and my known Security addons in the Desktop Browsers where i did the same and Had to re-login everywhere.

Because of security reasons this Brave option must be so strong.
Every User with this Intention does understand that.

Perhaps it should be an option to forget every but a white list?
Brave can show all not yet forgotten sites to check which to declare as save personally.
Feature requests!

OK, then everybody always has to think of that chosen option not to be irritated when no page reminds its data.
.

Again, this will not be enabled by default as it would cause confusion for many users. If you personally want the browser to work this way, you can go into brave://settings/shields and toggle the Forget me when I close this site option “on”. Changing this setting here will make it so that any time you visit a new site, the Forget me when I close this site option will be on by default. If you don’t want a site to forget you, simply open the Shields panel on that site and toggle the option off.

It is the mobile Brave

The instructions in my last reply will work for the mobile browser as well.

chrome://settings/shields
ERR_INVALID_URL
nope.

Main menu --> Settings --> Brave Shields & Privacy.

yes, but the point is : Whitelist.

@Clemens.Ratte-Polle I’m not quite sure I understand how what you’re requesting is different than how things work. I mean, except for you to say that you want it forced to be active for people, which 99.9% of users would not want.

The current implementation is set so that it’s off by default and people can enable it per site or globally.

Settings -> Privacy and security has an option of Forget me when I close this site. If it’s enabled there, then this will be the default option for all websites you visit. This is the “global” setting.

Then the whitelist is the per site settings. So when you’re visiting a website, you click the Shields lion icon and turn off the toggle, these are the site specific settings. It would disable the Forget me when I close this site option for that website only, essentially adding it to a whitelist.

The opposite is true for default. The global is off and we can turn it on per site for any particular sites we think is important for the feature to work.

@Saoiray is correct here and is mirroring what I mentioned earlier in this thread. If there is some other specific functionality that you’re wanting that we are not picking up on then you’ll need to elaborate a bit on what exactly it is that you’re asking for.

No, it is a Blacklist.

I want the option to forget every site by default and allow only manually by Whitelist.

99,9% of my visited pages can be forgotten without losing usability. And tapping this option for every site to forget is annoying.

I think 99,9% of Brave users also would make this experience. But they still do not notice this aspect of data protection.

This would point out Brave as a really secure Browser.

Yes, i also speak of 99,99% as you, even If WE do not know what they really think about this. No reaction or feedback does not mean that everything is fine.

thx

It’s both. The setting works both ways. It can be a waitlist or a blacklist. You decide which one. It all depends on which way you toggle the main setting.

If you turn the main setting on by default then when you go to turn it off per site you are adding them to a whitelist.

If you have the setting off like it is by default, then when you turn it on per site you are creating what you call a blacklist

If i switch to “always forget” as new default, will my existing Blacklist get lost when i go back to the old setting “dont forget”?

thx
