Brave’s mobile version lagging far behind. There’s so many useful features missing or implemented badly.
One example is “Playing YouTube videos in Portrait full screen mode”. Whenever pressing “full screen” on youtube video, the screen automatically tilt horizontal landscape mode. But there should be a toggle to flip the screen vertical/portrait mode maintaining the Full Screen. We wanna watch videos as per our choice.
Another is; if I load a website then try to edit the existing URL by pressing on the address bar of mobile version of Brave, the address bar goes blank instead of keeping the existing URL.
That’s so annoying.
Another is, mobile version of Brave frequently adds browsed websites shortcuts on the homepage of brave randomly. We don’t need random shortcuts on the homepage. The homepage shortcuts should be organized as per our choice.
Another is, Can’t able to change Download location directory as per own choice. That’s so annoying. Brave can only let us choose ‘Phone Storage’ or ‘SD Card’ but doesn’t let us choose & manually set folder as download location directory.
Fix this please.
Another is, in many Android Browser (I.E - Opera Mini) there has “Media Grabber” like option. If a website has any media (audio or video) the browser scans for media & create a link to stream or download those following media files, even if the website doesn’t provide any downloading option. It’s a needed feature for people like us who likes to download media contents to our storage. I’d like to request to implement similar method for Brave mobile version.
This is a function of the video player itself, not the browser. If you try this in other mobile browsers – Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera, etc. you’ll get the same behavior. The behavior you’re describing is not expected and likely too niche to devote resources to (it is likely rare that a user wants a video to be full screen but then view it in portrait mode, often resulting in an even smaller display overall).
I agree that this can be annoying. Do note that tapping the “pencil” icon below the address bar once you’ve tapped in it allows you to edit the URL.
They’re not “random”. They are “top-sites” and – as their name suggests – are sites you visit frequently in the browser. We have an open issue to add functionality to make the Android NTP at parity with the desktop version, allowing you to display “top-sites” (which is what are on the NTP currently) or “favorites” which would allow you to add/edit NTP icons to your liking:
This is another Chromium limitation that we are considering putting in the work to customize and upkeep:
I used to watch youtube videos while lying right-side or left-side on my bed, sometimes I need to watch it on fullscreen but if the screen suddenly tilt 90 degree then it’s heck of a problem because of the orientation. My point is, if your head is in vertical position (y axis) then holding phone to either vertical or horizontal ain’t much of a problem but if you lie on bed & your head is already on horizontal (x axis) position then holding the phone in (y axis) is bit of problematic & weird because of viewing angle and weird holding position of hand.
It would be so great if Brave Software add the option to manually set download directory in Android version of Brave.
