This new feature is currently being developed for Android; for more information, click here.

what does “desktop android” mean? what about smartphone android?

It was explained in the quoted post.

I’ll highlight it for you.

It also explains what this means for Smartphone Android if you read further. In fact that entire preview answered everything. I’m confused, you read up to “desktop Android” then stopped? As everything you just asked is right after that point.

so it’s about chrome os, and not chromium but it will make it easier to port to brave android somehow?

@imre the way it’s worded is a bit confusing – basically in this context, “desktop Android” just means a configuration where Chrome (or another Chromium based browser) runs on Android devices but with desktop-like features enabled (such as extensions).

Once the Chromium team implements these changes, it should be easier to allow extension support in Brave and other Chromium-based browsers for Android devices.
