Extensions are being installed and removed from all profiles instead of a specific profile

Description of the issue: Whenever I add a new extension or remove it, it applies to all profiles instead of the specific profile that I perform the action.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary):

1. Install any extension

2. See it appearing in all profiles instead of only one

3. Remove the extension from the profile that you don’t want to have this extension there 4. It gets removed from all profiles, including the profile that you actually want to have that extension installed

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!): Vídeo footage: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fZW8PEqZxZkUIhpUtCgXnoej-lNlnqNH/view?usp=drive_link

Expected result: To have extensions installed only in the profile that you have installed that and whenever you remove an extension from another profile, to not impact other profiles.

Reproduces how often: 100% of the time after the latest update

Additional Information: After the latest update on Brave, both in my Windows and macOS, I’m getting this odd and broken behavior. I’m temporarily using another browser as this heavily impacted in my productivity.

Extensions Tests:
  • test by disabling all extensions
  • test by enabling each extension individually
  • test by uninstalling all extensions
  • test by installing each extension individually
  • test combinations of extensions
  • test order of installation of extensions

@asodmar3903f3mo5126 do a favor and confirm for me:

  1. Does this happen to the other extensions or is this only Hubspot Sales as shown in your video?

  2. If you check brave://policy do you see anything listed there?

  3. Does this also happen in Chrome?

  4. If you use Brave Beta or Brave Nightly, does the same thing occur on them?

@Mattches tagging to get eyes on this regardless.

This issue occurs with any extension installed after the last update.

Extensions that were already pre‑installed are not affected. For example, I use a separate Bitwarden account in one of my profiles, and it correctly respects the two different instances and credentials.

I also run Brave Nightly, and the problem does not appear there. It only happens with the retail version. I don’t have Brave Beta to test.

PS: The issue has stopped happening on macOS. I’m glad I can now work on macOS again, though I didn’t change anything, it just started working fine on its own.

PS2: Brave Policies gives me that screen below.

I tested all of the extensions, and the issue occurred in every case.

The strange part is that I hadn’t changed anything beforehand. This same problem was happening on macOS too, but it suddenly started working fine there without me doing anything.

My installation path on Windows is:
C:\Program Files\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\Application

Your issue might be (?) related to Group Policy:

@asodmar3903f3mo5126 just to make sure I’m following correctly, you’re saying that the issue is still/only occurring on Windows at this time?

Tried to reproduce this on macOS and Win11 with no luck.
