ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID for raw.githubusercontent.com on Brave Linux

EDIT:
Disabling openfortivpn resolves the certificate error, likely due to a configuration issue in the VPN client. I also have added this information on the Additional Information section.

Description of the issue:
When visiting any raw.githubusercontent.com URL in Brave on my Linux desktop (OpenSUSE Tumbleweed), I get the following error:

Your connection is not private net::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID

As a result, any Github repository contents from raw.githubusercontent.comURL does not render properly

It doesn’t occur when visiting the same URL from Brave on my mobile device.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Use Brave on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed

  2. Open any raw.githubusercontent.com URL

  3. The browser shows ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID

Expected result: The content should be rendered normally

Brave Version( check About Brave): Brave 1.80.113 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:

  • System uses Quad9 DNS (9.9.9.9) for DNS resolution
  • Using openfortivpn client to access some work resources, which seems to cause or contribute to this issue.

@w4rd15

Suggest that you choose / test some other DNS server numbers.

Myself, I manually set the DNS server numbers within the OS network location settings; and I have Brave Browser’s setting at OS default (when available):

After making changes, be sure to Exit / Quit Brave Browser and Restart the computer.

Nevermind—disabling the openfortivpn client I use for work resolved the issue. It seems there was a configuration problem on that side. This issue can be closed for now. Thank you for your time and assistance!
