Completely turnoff Brave Shield

Description of the issue:
I use uMatrix and ublock origin, and https everywhere because I’m familiar with them and the features are more granular that brave shield. I’ve turned off all brave shield options in settings>shield, however I often have to still disable brave shield, especially on discourse forums.

How can I completely deactivate brave shield or manually add a wildcard whitelist to the shield off settings? I like the overall functionality of brave over other browsers, but I just want the shield turned off.

**Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary):

  1. Install Brave
  2. Install uMatrix and ublock origin
  3. Turn off all shield settings
  4. search google/bing for info that happens to be on a discourse based forum as an example
  5. Click the link
  6. Receive a browser error that the page has moved
  7. Turn off Brave sheld for this one site << This is where the issue is
  8. click back and reopen the same or another link to the original site
  9. Page loads now, at least what ever is allowed by umatrix and ublock
  10. allow scripts/XHR that might be preventing the page from fully loading in umatrix
  11. page is now displaying correctly

Page loads without being filtered/modified/redirected by brave shield

Every time, multiple computers, multiple networks

Off-topic-
I think ‘https everywhere’ extension is not needed. It has become redundant for quite awhile. Afaik, EFF themselves have stopped advocating or maintaining it. Brave already has an in-built https everywhere support. Afaik, Firefox in recent updates also added https everywhere by default.
Also, having too many extra extensions adds to bloat and may harm your privacy since it becomes easy to fingerprint.

But, if you still need to use it due to certain features from the extension, then it is upto you.

I see your point, but I use the EASE feature of HTTPS to be alerted when a site only has HTTP. I also only have 6 or 7 addons, not a crazy addon user.

You can enable Always use secure connections in the settings, which is essentially the same thing as EASE

To add on to it, umatrix is also deprecated. It is unmaintained for quite a while. The people behind umatrix (Raymond Hill) created UBO and are actively maintaining it https://www.ghacks.net/2020/09/20/umatrix-development-has-ended/.

UBO has https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Blocking-mode:-hard-mode which does the same job as umatrix used to do (and does better, since it is actively maintained).

Still, if you like using it due to UI and the ease which it helps to do the stuff you want, then I guess use it.
