Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Not sure, but it happens regardless of what I try on my desktop.

  2. Windows 11 Pro system

Expected result: I want to get Brave working again on my desktop

Brave Version( check About Brave): Latest version - can’t check as it won’t load

Additional Information: Clicked to restart and update Brave this afternoon, but it wouldn’t relaunch. Restarted computer, but it wouldn’t start. Turned off all firewall and security within windows and retried, wouldn’t start. Checked task manager and Brave update was in the background with a tiny 0.6Mb usage and 0% CPU usage so I don’t think it was doing anything. Tried redownloading Brave install file from a different browser, progress bar showing installing and then it disappeared never to be seen again and doesn’t show up in task bar. I really don’t want to fully uninstall and lose all my passwords, bookmarked sites, etc. Please help as I rely on this browser for work and access to countless online accounts.

As long as you don’t/didn’t elect to delete your user data folder when you uninstalled, you should be fine with respect to your data.

At this time, are you still unable to install Brave? If so, can you try running the standalone installer from our releases page? I believe you’ll want the BraveBrowserStandaloneSetup.exe file.

I uninstalled the app, but it didn’t give me the option regarding the data folder. Following Brave uninstall I again tried to redownload and install. Same deal, wouldn’t install. Strangest thing. I’ve been using Brave forever and nothing like this has ever happened. I’ll try to standalone file now.
