New to Brave. No matter which way I chose to clear/delete history when I re-open the browser the same tabs that I had opened are all open again. I even tried closing each tab individually, then clearing/deleting history and when I reopened the browser the same tabs were all open. Any suggestions as to why this is happening and how to fix it? Thank you.
@Kerrington you likely have the browser set to Continue where you left off. If you want to open the browser fresh every time, launch Brave and go to Settings --> Get started and under On startup select Open the New Tab page:
Thank you for the prompt response. Your suggestion solved the problem. I have one other issue. I use magnet downloads a lot and when first used the browser will ask for the default torrent client you wish to use. I have selected the preferred client and that works until I close the browser but when I reopen the browser and attempt a magnet download, I have to once again go through establishing the preferred client. I’ve looked for a section in the Settings to set up the magnet preference (like the downloads preference) but I can’t find the appropriate place. If you could advise me on this I would be most appreciative.

There should be a checkbox on the prompt in which you use to launch the app when you click on the magnet link download to set that app as the default. Check that box and you should be good to go.

I’ve ticked that box for all torrent sites and afterwards it works fine, that is UNTIL I close the torrent(s) site(s) and reopen them and then I have to do it all over again. This is an ongoing issue. I searched the Internet and found a Registry edit that was supposed to fix the problem. I made the necessary adjustments but the problem persists. Do you have any further suggestions? Thank you.
Sorry I’m not sure I understand – you have to recheck the box when you close the torrent site, or the torrent client?
MASSIVE WARNING: Do not go into the Windows registry unless you absolutely know what you are doing. Searching the Internet for advice in the registry is a one way ticket to a PC that doesn’t boot again until restored or repaired.
Being that Brave barely uses the registry (very basic stuff, VPN, defaults, etc, most of the real configuration happens in %appdata%), what exactly did you DO in your registry? This is entirely off-topic to your issue, but I’m actually concerned about what you did? What website did you follow? I just want to make sure you didn’t set yourself up for something bad.
Sorry I wasn’t clearer on that. When I go on the Internet and open a torrent site and then click on the magnet link, the popup asks me if I wish to use the particular torrent client and offers the checkbox to make this usage a default. After ticking the box I can then close and re-open that particular torrent site and the default still applies. However, if I close the browser and then reopen it, I have to go through the whole process again. Whether the client is running or not makes no difference. Perhaps it’s being caused by the way I’ve set up my history to be totally cleared when I close the browser (except for cookies from social networking sites) .
This is almost certainly what’s causing this. Can you try turning off the delete data on exit options you’ve selected, then test again to see if you still get the issue?
