Captchas are wasting way too much of our time 1.83.109

Brave is downloaded onto my computer. I use it 50 times a day. Despite that, I am asked to click a box confirming I am human every time, and this takes forever. Sick of Brave trying to pass the buck to Cloudflare, because this generally isn’t a problem. I do use a VPN and I will continue to use one as my identity was stolen while using brave actually. This VPN is also an addon to the browser, so Brave should be able to see it. I know I am not alone in being at my wit’s end with the captchas etc.

If anyone here can fix this on Brave’s end, please do so. I am seriously considering going back to firefox over this.

Turning off all brave shields also doesnt help

Unfortunately, this issue isn’t fully controlled by Brave. Sites using Cloudflare or similar services rely on external systems that often flag VPN traffic as potentially automated. Even if Brave recognizes your VPN extension, Cloudflare still sees the connection coming from a shared VPN IP address that many users may be using at once.

Here are a few steps that can sometimes reduce or eliminate the CAPTCHA prompts:

  1. Try a different VPN exit server: Some VPN endpoints get flagged more than others. Switching to another location or server can make a big difference.
  2. Check “Use secure DNS” settings under Settings → Privacy and security → Security. If you’re using a DNS provider tied to your VPN, try toggling that setting off or switching to another resolver like Cloudflare or Quad9.
  3. Test in a private window with no extensions: This can help confirm whether another extension is making your traffic appear automated.

Sadly, Cloudflare’s anti-bot system isn’t something Brave can override, but the above changes usually help minimize repeated challenges.

Thank you for your response. I will try those suggestions.
