Can't see currently playing youtube tab when i select a different tab when i have lots of tabs

I have attached a screenshot of me playing a youtube video but i have clicked on a different youtube tab. The volume icon or even a youtube icon is not displayed on the tab when i have a huge number of tabs loaded. This problem does not happen when using chrome.

I’m using the latest v1.81.131 on Windows 11. I’m a new Brave user so i don’t know whether this has always been the case or if this problem was introduced recently. Please fix this issue, it is very annoying.

@spaceship9876 when you have an extensive amount of tabs open as you do, it doesn’t leave room for extra symbols like you seem to want. But just so you know, if you look to the upper right hand side of your browser you should see a musical note symbol. image

Clicking that gives you media controls for the video playing.

From there we can pause, rewind, fast forward, cast, use picture-in-picture, etc. And if you click it takes you to the tab with that content.

It would be better if you made an additional smaller volume icon that was made to fit on tabs that are this narrow or if tabs that are playing audio are made slightly wider to display the volume icon. Chrome displays the volume icon so should brave.

@spaceship9876 I’m trying to test. It’s been a long time but when you said it works on Chrome, had me looking back. So I just opened a ton of tabs and it’s doing as you said:

Added even more:

I’m on Windows 11 as well so not sure where the difference is at quite yet.

I’m using 1920x1080 resolution with 125% scaling on my laptop, not sure if that effects it or not.

@spaceship9876 yeah, I think it might. Other thing I just did was exit from full screen to a smaller window and then the tab space decreased more, to being a bit hidden.

So yeah, in this scenario it wouldn’t be visible. I’m going to try to test in Chrome a bit and see if it works the same there and is a Chromium thing.

And yeah, Chrome is maintaining it better

So let me tag in @Mattches so he can pass it to whoever is best to check into it.

I’m happy to forward the feedback to some of our devs but I’m not sure how much is going to be done about this. This a particularly niche scenario and there are several resolutions for it outside of the devs taking the time to dig into the code to find out exactly what’s going on in this specific case.
