Brave Browser → “BB”
GENERAL OUTLINE
Follow steps that apply, in the following order:
- Disable and remove all extensions.
- Back up bookmarks.
- Back up passwords.
- Clear all cache, cookies, history.
- Exit / Quit everything.
- Disable automatic startup of BB.
- Restart computer.
- Back up the “User Data” folder.
- Complete un-install of BB application.
- Exit / Quit everything.
- Restart computer.
User Data folder location:
C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default
IF you are running an anti-virus and/or Internet security application, you may want to disable it - so it does not interfere with the installation of BB. That includes any such extensions installed on other applications.
- Again, Exit / Quit everything.
- Restart computer.
The latest BB stable releases are at:

There, you have the opportunity to choose the BB version.
Or, you may choose to download BB from:
- Download the installer.
- Run the installer.
IF / WHEN that fails, careful study of the Windows Registry and where some BB entries may need to be removed, may be in order.
You may also need to find and delete the “Local State” file ← IIRC, it is in the “User Data” folder. IF you delete that file, you will discover that some BB settings need your review and adjustment.
