Browser deletes all my saved passwords and account data after the new 1.81.136 update when it shows a brave analytics dialogue box below the search bar on opening the browser

**Description of the issue:
I lost all my saved passwords and logged out of all the sites and my google accounts too when I opened the brave browser today. On opening, a dialogue box about brave analytics showed up just below the search bar and I found all my saved passwords were gone. **

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Lost all my saved passwords for various sites and the google account login passwords after the 1.81.136 update

  2. When I opened the browser it showed a dialogue box for brave analytics just below the search bar and I clicked on the okay button. Then when I tried to open a website, it was logged out. I checked and found all my google accounts had been removed and all the passwords for the various sites had also been deleted and I was also logged out from all of them.

  3. Then I logged in all my accounts and the sites. When exited the browser and opened it again, the same thing happened again. The dialogue box appeared again and all my passwords were gone again.

Expected result:
Brave does not delete my passwords and log me out of all the sites and google accounts.

Sorry this happened that sounds very frustrating. You should also contact Brave support. I would also suggest a separate password manager like Bitwarden in future. As a solution maybe you could try seeing if any website data is still in your user Cache/cookies etc.

The website data is present in the cookies, but I am still being logged out, which is quite surprising.

@sorraine did you make any other changes to your system before opening the browser? Namely did you change your system password at any point?

NO, I haven’t done anything like that.

UPDATE: It seems to have fixed itself, as my passwords are not getting deleted anymore
