Brave wants keychain password on Linux

On Linux, whenever I run Brave, it pops up wanting my password for the keychain. It doesn’t happen with Chrome or Firefox, just Brave. Is there a way to fix this? I went into the keychain to change the password to null but I couldn’t, and wasn’t ready to delete the keychain until I asked here.

Thanks!

Yes I see those other threads. They have not resolved the issue. One speaks of installing Seahorse. It’s already installed. I searched for it and what came up was the Passwords and Keys app. I open it and the Default keyring is unlocked. Beyond that I do not know what to do.

Since you’ve confirmed the keyring is unlocked in Seahorse, the issue is likely that Brave isn’t ‘hooking’ into it automatically. This usually happens if Linux is set to auto-login (the keyring needs a manual login to unlock) or if Brave is looking for the wrong storage type.

Try launching Brave with the flag --password-store=gnome via the terminal. If that stops the pop-up, you can make that change permanent in the Brave desktop shortcut. This tells Brave exactly where to look for that OSCrypt key you mentioned
