Description of the issue:
Brave browser on Linux (Debian 13 R2 XFCE) shows the error message:
“This code has expired. Please generate a new one on your other device and try again.”
whenever I input my 25-word sync phrase. The same phrase was used successfully on this same PC yesterday. I also tried syncing the same code on my phone, and it shows the same error.
How can this issue be reproduced?
- Open Brave browser on Debian 13 R2 XFCE.
- Go to
brave://settings/braveSync/setup. - Choose “I have a sync code”, then input the same 25-word sync phrase previously used on the device.
- Error appears: “This code has expired…”
Expected result:
The browser should accept the 25-word sync code and rejoin the sync chain successfully without expiration error.
Brave Version (check About Brave):
1.80.124
Additional Information:
- Sync phrase was used yesterday on the same system without issues.
- The system was not formatted or reset.
- Brave shows the same error on both PC and Android when trying to sync.
- Internet connection is stable.
- The sync chain might have been broken, expired, or revoked, but no such action was taken by user.
