Brave started opening app instead of downloading -- I want to download only

How do I disable this feature?

I want download only – the default download directory.

If I understood your issue correctly, check the following:

  1. Type brave://settings/downloads in the address bar.
  2. If you see Open certain file types automatically after downloading, click on Clear.

Thanks. However the setting is not persistent over recent updates. This is not only annoying but a security risk.
