Brave on Linux lacks Manifest V2 Extension?

Hello, I was excited to use Brave on Linux, but I noticed that the Manifest V2 setting (brave://settings/extensions) isn’t available — that’s a dealbreaker for me.

It is available on macOS, so now I’m wondering: is Brave planning to remove this over time, or will it come to Linux?

I don’t like Brave Shields and prefer using uBlock Origin with Manifest V2.

Is there any way to enable Manifest V2 in Brave on Linux? I’d appreciate any help.

Thank you!

According to Brave Search with AI assistance:

uBlock Origin works fully on the Brave Browser on Linux

Unlike Chrome, Brave continues to support the full version of uBlock Origin (via Manifest V2), thanks to its workarounds for Chrome’s Manifest V3 restrictions.

  • Installation: You can install uBlock Origin directly from the Brave browser’s extension menu (Settings > Extensions > Manage Extensions) or via the Chrome Web Store.
  • Disable Brave Shields if you’re using uBlock Origin to avoid conflicts, especially for advanced features like anti-adblock evasion (e.g., on YouTube).
  • Use custom filter lists and advanced rules in uBlock Origin for enhanced blocking beyond Brave’s built-in protections.
