How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Refer below.

Expected result:

Brave Version( check About Brave): Brave 1.79.126 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Chromium: 137.0.7151.119

Additional Information: Brave claims the browser is out of date. I tried re-installing curl -fsS https://dl.brave.com/install.sh | sh.

Still claims its out of date. OS is Arch Linux. I’ll add I keep my system up to date and this problem has occurred on more than one laptop. Removing the browser and re-installing from scratch often fixes the problem but looses my set up. Something here I believe needs to be fixed your end. I have never had this issue with other browsers.

@ArchV

Brave (‘https://brave.com/linux/’) says:

When you run curl -fsS https://dl.brave.com/install.sh | sh in the command line, that install.sh script includes lines that take into account, the AUR helper:

Might you post the portion of the report from the command line, that pertains to the “out of date” that you mention, here?

This has happened on multiple systems Arch and occasionally Debian over the last 12 or so months. So no point delving into the minutiae of one of my systems.

I thought I’d report to you so your Devs could take a look if they wanted to. I have no idea if the same problem presents on Windows as I’m not a user.

I’ll add I have nothing against Brave but as you can appreciate its tiresome re-inventing the wheel repeatedly and I’m busy, too, so I’m migrating to another browser.

You can close this off, if you wish but I sincerely think this needs to be looked into, as opposed to trouble shooting, at the user end.
