Brave Intercepting Passkey Requests instead of 1password

Description of the issue: When I try to login to Okta with a passkey Brave prompts me to use their passkey service, however I am using the 1password extension which is set as the default password manager for Brave and doesn’t prompt me to use the saved passkey in 1password

**Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): Try to login to site **

**Actual Result:

It Prompts me to use the brave interface not the 1password**

Expected result: Used the saved passkey in 1password

Reproduces how often: All the time

Operating System and Brave Version:
Tahoe 26

Brave 1.82.173 (Official Build) (x86_64)

Chromium: 140.0.7339.213**

Additional Information:

I came hoping to find a solution to this as I am having the same problem. I tried the same websites I had the issues with in Edge and everything worked as expected. Like you, I am also on Tahoe so perhaps something between the latest MacOS update and Brave is wonky.

Can you both check the brave://password-manager/settings page and confirm that you have 1Password set in the browser to control your passwords and passkeys:

It appears to be set correctly for me:

As a follow up, I came across a post on this community from March 2024 saying that the same thing was happening with BitWarden. That person was also on MacOS but obviously pre-Tahoe, so it must not be related to the updated as I theorized. But perhaps it is MacOS related.

Sorry for the late reply here.
It looks like this user also encountered this and was able to workaround the issue by changing the brave://flags/#web-authentication-new-passkey-ui to Disabled:

Will add your report to this issue and ping someone on the team to take a look and see what we can do about getting this fixed.
