Brave fails to open behind mail

The feature that should allow me to “open link behind mail” fails to work with Brave, though it works fine with Safari. Instead, when I right click the link in an email or select “open link behind mail,” Brave forces itself automatically to the forefront. This is an annoying bug that has persisted for a long time. Why can’t it be fixed?
