Description of the issue: Brave doesn’t block cookie consent notices anymore
Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3. When I look at most websites now cookie consent notice pop ups come up but they didn’t used to before latest update
Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
First thing I see is that Brave is quite out of date for you at this point, I’d highly recommend updating to the latest version as seen in below first link.
To force it: Brave Settings > About Brave ( brave://settings/help ) > Update (&/Or Relaunch)
In other news, if updating doesn’t fix it, maybe it has to do with the “new” Cookiecrumbler:
Easylist cookies is already ticked but I still keep getting cookie consent notices coming up. When I googled it it said Brave has recently changed the way it blocks cookie consent notices and now it uses cookiecrumbler but this doesn’t block them
Yes - cookiecrumbler doesn’t work - it doesn’t block cookie consent notices. They should go back to the old way of blocking them as that worked. Can’t see a feedback option in Brave to report this to anyone. Is there any way of contacting the designers of Brave to tell them cookiecrumbler doesn’t work and they should go back to the old way of blocking them? I even went back to Chrome out of desperation and installed a cookie consent notice blocker extension on Chrome (Ghostery) and that blocked more cookie consent notices than Brave does now, but until the latest update Brave would block all of them.
Also, Cookiecrumbler is “new” as of April, so I’m not saying it is that, just pointing it out, and I doubt it would effect the other options such as the Content Filters EasyList Cookie
You can also add Ghostery to Brave.
Also is this happening on ALL websites you visit or is it just one website that’s really annoying you?
& Could you share some websites that it’s happening on?
Yes I have updated Brave and it has not made any difference. I am getting cookie consent notices on most websites on Brave now but Ghostery on Chrome is blocking most of the ones that I am seeing on Brave. However there are some which are not blocked by Brave or Ghostery on Chrome . I have just added ghostery to brave but I shouldn’t need to as Brave is supposed to block cookie consent notices without an add on or extension and it used to do this before they changed the way they do it and introduced cookiecrumbler - which is totally useless and doesn’t block them (although obviously it blocks more than chrome which is now unusable because of them unless you add ghostery to it). I thought the only joy of Brexit was that we wouldn’t have to be a slave to these ridiculous EU laws but there is NO benefit to Brexit as we still have to follow these stupid EU laws
