Brave Developer Tools window - elastic BLACK area below Console section

Description of the issue:

In the following screenshot, notice the area that is all BLACK between the Console . . . What's new . . . section header bar(s) and the first line of Console message data (“Failed to . . .”):

The height of that BLACK area is elastic ← the height of the area will change as you grab the Console . . . What's new . . . section header bar ← and drag that UP / DOWN.

In the following screenshot, I dragged that Console . . . What's new . . . section header bar as far DOWN as I could, leaving only 1 Console message line:

SPECIAL UPATE!

I reloaded the Brave Browser webpage, et viola! Suddenly the Developer Tools window performed correctly.

And about THAT, I am pretty sure, that Brave is watching and Brave threw a MASTER LEVER somewhere. It’s a conspiracy . . . it’s Google . . . it’s the CIA . . .

It’s time for a nap.

How can this issue be reproduced?

See description, preceding.

Expected result:

My bet is, that the large elastic BLACK area should not even exist

Brave Version( check About Brave):

Brave Browser version 1.84.141; Chromium version 142.0.7444.176 (Official Build) (x86_64)

MacOS 14.7.7 Sonoma

JavaScript: V8 14.2.231.21

Additional Information:

Using Brave Browser Private Windows.

The Developer Tools Window is set to be standalone ← not attached directly to a Brave Browser window.

Hmmm not seeing this on my end:

To clarify, you’re saying the issue has disappeared at this point?

@Mattches

When I open a Brave Browser New Private Window, and visit ‘https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/AKAM/’ and then open a Developer Tools > Network window, I get the large elastic mystery BLACK area mentioned:

But, I also discovered, that a simple resize of the Developer Tools window, can cause the Developer Tools window to properly display the Console messages ← suddenly, thereby, no BLACK area/buffer/whatever.

Yet, another issue is, that I am also, now, when first visiting the Yahoo Finance link, I am often getting the “Aw Snap . . .”:

The elastic BLACK area below the Console header, and the Aw Snap, both occurring after updating Brave Browser to 1.84.141.

At this point, I am reporting observations: In both cases:

  • Elastic mystery BLACK area beneath Console header
  • Notorious “Aw Snap” at first attempt to load link

. . . a reload of the webpage, corrects each issue.

I suspect, that the “Aw Snap” is a Yahoo DNS issue(?) - notice the “Aw Snap” webpage’s title: “Yahoo forma parte de la . . .”

Anyway, I will just keep an eye on it.
