I noticed about 1 months ago that Bookmarks disappear but upon further investigation, they are reverting to some previous version of saved Bookmarks. I thought it was related to Sync so I turned that feature off and do not log into Sync account for over 1 week. Still have missing/reverting bookmarks. I thought maybe too many bookmarks in folder. Reduced number of bookmarks per folder to less then 100 each. Still get same results. I have not found anything that I can point to as causing it.
When you say you turned sync “off”, did you actually have the device you’re seeing this on leave the Sync chain?
I’m not sure how to actually see oneself leave sync chain. I exited login to sync and here’s screenshot. I thought this was turning sync off.
I turned off Sync. I removed all Sync devices. I deleted Sync account. And I checked that brave://sync-internals/ was Disabled. Now added some bookmarks and waiting to see if they disappear…
Update: bookmarks still disappear and/or revert to previous version. I turned off all three (3) devices doing what I said above. I also exited each browser. added new folder and two (2) new bookmarks and after short time, they are gone.
But your tabs, History, cookies/site data, favorites page,etc. – all of those are still there (that is, not disappearing)?

Are you using Nightly at the time you see this?
no. I’m using stable version
Do you have any extensions installed in that profile at this time?
Additionally, can you please try creating and testing a new profile and adding a bookmark or two to it and see if the same behavior occurs in the new profile?
I found problem. It was an extension that was messing with bookmarks that kept putting them back to some previous version. Thanks for help
