Autofill not working on iOS

Just switched from Chrome to Brave. I absolutely love it, especially on desktop. But it seems like Brave doesn’t support autofill for addresses, names and credit cards unlike Safari or Chrome. The lack of this basic feature makes the browser basically unusable when signing up for new accounts or doing online shopping.

I do not know the relationship between auto-filling credit card, name, address … and auto-filling passwords, but Apple’s requirements must be involved.

Wallet & Apple Pay, and iCloud - settings and info you enter - are probably involved. Where Apple would store card info that would be submitted.

Safari (iOS), of course, has the matter figured out; has native access to:

  • iCloud Keychain
  • Wallet payment cards
  • Contact autofill
  • Apple Pay
  • system AutoFill UI

And interesting that Chrome (iOS) does, too - uses both Apple APIs and Google profile data; can:

  • use iOS password/autofill APIs,
  • sync addresses/cards from the user’s Google Account,
  • prompt users during onboarding,
  • encourage enabling autofill permissions,
  • and maintain its own local autofill database.

If Brave (iOS) does - there should be iOS settings, somewhere …

  • Settings → Safari → AutoFill
  • Settings → Wallet & Apple Pay
  • Settings → Passwords
  • Settings → Contacts → My Info
