I’ve been trying to figure this out for a while. Several Apps that were previously working with Brave have suddenly stopped opening up or connecting me to even login. It may not necessarily be Brave’s settings bc I’ve gone back to see if they would run w/ Safari as my default browser too.
I’ve tried trouble shooting by toggling different settings on/off to see if it allowed those apps to connect me again. Obviously I want the most security possible but on occasion, if I need to bypass certain settings to use an app for a short time before changing the settings back, that’s what I’ll do.
If anyone can point me in the right direction, I’d appreciate it.
For instance, when I deposited USD into FOMO, it would open a link to pay.coinbase.com. Instead of that page opening on the screen, I’d have to go to the browser button, open that up and complete the transaction. Up until 2 days ago, that worked. It would open up the link after clicking on the browser. Now, that connection isn’ connecting.
I’ve msg’d FOMO and they haven’t given me a clear answer. I’m wondering if certain settings in the Brave browser is preventing that connection from happening. It could be something else but that is where I’m at now. Trying to figure out the issue. And b/c this has happened with other Apps, I’m thinking it has more to do with settings on the browser than it does the Apps itself.
@K22 there should not be any disruption between apps. The closest I can think of is your choices on what they open by default. An example of this would be Brave’s Settings → Shields & Privacy. While there, you can see toggles for:
Allow universal links to open in external apps
Block “switch to app” notices
If you have the universal links in external apps, then that means clicking certain types of links will open in another app besides Brave. So if you have the Coinbase app installed and you click on a Coinbase link, it may open in the Coinbase app instead of opening in Brave. And in that situation, the data from the two apps are separate. This would mean Brave wouldn’t see what you did in the Coinbase app and if it was needed for whatever you’re doing in the browser, you will not succeed.
I’m a bit busy right now and can’t really poke around, but I’m wanting to say I remember there being iOS level settings on our devices which can control what apps we want to handle certain tasks or links as well.
