Appearance -> Autocmplete Suggestions should allow to autocomplete history, but only domain level

Brave Settings → Appearance - “Show autocomplete suggestions in address bar”

I have this enabled, but only “Bookmarks” and “Browsing History” options ticked

If I want to visit a site, I’ll start typing the domain into the address bar, and hit enter, expecting to go to the domains home page.

Instead, Brave will always autocomplete the full url from browsing history, including an unpredictable deep url path.

Please could you add an extra feature so “Browsing History” has a “Domain Only” sub-tickbox nested under it?

Tthis would not change any default behavior, just adding an extra option for keyboard-centric users

This feature has been requested many times over the years, but it never reaches a critical mass of votes - probably because its difficult to explain just using the title. For me it was instrumental in me ditching Chrome for Brave though, because Chrome has the exact same annoyance.

This is my deepest issue with all Chromium based browsers right now (and seemingly Firefox too at times). Like, if I type to go to “google.com” I don’t mean go to some past search, just bring me where I typed. I feel it should be that way, autofill the domain only, and IF I want to go deeper, that’s what the down arrow is for.
