In a Brave Browser New Window, go to: brave://prefs-internals/
Search for "default_directory" ← should be in a section like:
Also, try in a Brave Browser New Window: brave://settings/?search=download
But, IF there is a TEMPORARY downloads directory, to which an in-process, downloading item first goes to, before it becomes a completed file, that is then moved to the Downloads folder? There is some chance that the downloading item is temporarily within the Cache folder at:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\Cache\
still hadn’t fixed the issue, yesterday i tried to download 500MB files from the same website, it eats up the same amount on my C:\ disk, the brave://settings/?search=download it shows my default download location which i was set to D:\ directory, still couldn’t find where the temporary downloaded file on C:\ located at

, its sure i found some cache file from the browser, but its only worth less than 200MB of data, different from the size i just downloaded
I suspect, there may be a Windows OS boundary problem.
In order to use a Downloads directory on the D:\ drive, the User Data folder must(?) also be on the D:\ drive. (I am uncertain.)
The C:\ drive brave.exe shortcut file on your C:\ drive user account’s Desktop, would need to have a path addition - something like:
"C:\Program Files\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\Application\brave.exe" --user-data-dir="D:\Brave\User Data"
A handy, simple text (TXT) file for testing - the file’s contents are one word: ‘test’:
