Description of the issue:
YouTube videos intermittently fail to load in Brave v1.91.180. Instead of playing immediately, the player gets stuck in a perpetual loading loop. Refreshing the page is usually the only way to get the video to load. In some cases, if left alone, the video will eventually start playing after more than a minute.
How can this issue be reproduced?
-
Open Brave v1.91.180 on Windows 11 (fully updated).
-
Ensure Brave Shields are enabled.
-
uBlock Origin is also installed and enabled.
-
Navigate to YouTube.
-
Open various videos.
-
Intermittently, the video player remains stuck on the loading spinner indefinitely or for over a minute.
-
Refreshing the page causes the video to load normally.
Expected result:
YouTube videos should begin playback immediately without requiring a page refresh or prolonged waiting.
Brave Version (check About Brave):
v1.91.180
Additional Information:
-
Operating System: Windows 11 (latest updates installed).
-
Brave Shields are enabled.
-
uBlock Origin is installed and enabled.
-
The issue is intermittent but occurs frequently enough to be disruptive.
-
Refreshing the page consistently resolves the issue for that video.

Another user has reported what appears to be the identical behavior here:

I have not yet determined whether the issue occurs with uBlock Origin disabled or with Brave Shields disabled, so it’s unclear whether the interaction between the two is a contributing factor.
