Now working fine but it’s automatically pause :play_or_pause_button: the media, we need to play again, any way working thanks

The fix will likely come in the form of an update for the app.

Okay Needing some testers.

For iOS:

Users a fix will be coming upstream in the next few hours, no need for any of these changes.

For Desktop and Android:

  • Update Brave Ad Block Resources Library - Version: 1.0.119 in brave://components
  • And enable Experimental List in brave://settings/shields/filters

Refresh Youtube tabs.

Tested in Android: (Desktop should be similar) Using a Fold 7 for testing.

So, I had said Google was doing things internally that are ramping up in 2026. It’s officially confirmed:

Good luck, the battle has started.

Galaxy s23 SM-S911U Android version 16

this worked im able to play vids in background again

Setup: iPhone, iOS 26.2.1

Version 1.86 (144)

BraveCore 1.86.144 (144.0.7559.97)

Hi Ryan, @fanboynz

Thought I’d let u/everyone know that it’s working on iOS for me today, and as u said, was resolved upstream without any intervention or app update by me.

You’re a star :star: thanks to u and ofc your team

Let’s hope it stays that way.

Me to Google: Bring it.

I saw an ad so ridiculous on the YouTube app the other day, I’d get banned for posting the screenshot. I may be a content creator on YouTube since '07, but I don’t condone ads selling products clearly for a certain bedroom intent, especially when signed out (so YouTube has no ID to verify if someone is of age to SEE such an ad that clearly was not censored in any way).

Not to mention, they are telling people background play is a premium feature you need to pay for if you are on a mobile device. That’s…a browser feature, so Google attempting highway robbery? No, Google needs to lose the war hard.

Doesnt work on my S24 Ultra, running Brave - Nightly 1.89.3, Chromium 145.0.7632.45. Pauses after every song and doesnt start until phone is unlocked and Brave focused.

Tested this:

Video autoplay is enabled in Brave settings, so thats not the culprit. It plays 1 song correctly in the background and then stops. When unlocked the phone and focusing Brave it continues to the next song, and then stops again. Also desktop mode doesnt work, and pip doesnt work either. Im out of ideas. Uninstalling/reinstalling Brave didnt work.

I can happily inform you all that Firefox Nightly works perfectly, videos play in the background and playlist keeps playing and doesnt stop.

@steeven

Can you please take a look into this issue why playlists on YouTube keeps pausing after each song? Firefox doesnt stop after each song but Brave does.

I’ve unfortunately been noticing a few hick ups starting again re the background playing, also when the phone locks itself it’s been disappearing too.

Thankfully been able to get it going again by force closing or restating the app, so far.

Not a huge deal but in case that’s relevant for anyone to know…
