Youtube live chat 30 sec delay

I tagged Fanboynz and SaltyBanana because both had been active today. Otherwise usually would just tag @Mattches in and wait. Main thing is I know they’ve all been very busy this week behind the scenes trying to handle some issues. We tagged and put what info we did, now it’s just waiting for them to respond when they can.

Might be lucky to see answer quick but have it in your mind might not be able to do much until next week or so, as they go to catch up on whatever they’ve missed.

Not using Malware bytes?

Nope. Haven’t had Malwarebytes in a long time. It’s interesting to see that article though.

They pushed out updates this morning to fix the issue. I disabled MBAM and it made no difference on the chat load on the test profile.

Disable the malwarebytes extension, if installed anyways. I haven’t gone through the entire thread, I would try clearing the cookies/cache

Tried MBAM disabling and deleting Google cookies no difference along with clearing cache.Still seeing close to 20-30 second delay on live stream chat populating. Even a recorded live stream with live chat has the same issue. I already had Fanzboy rules enabled in UBlock Origin but it is happening in new profiles that have no extensions loaded.

I just loaded Linus Tech Tip WAN show when it was live and I had no issues with the Live Chat loading quickly and this is in my normal profile which is having issues with a whole host of other streams. Is it YouTube ads causing issues with the live chat populating promptly?

I followed the instructions under " Comments not loading / Blank page" including deleting ALL my cookies .

That allowed the live stream I was watching so that its live chat populated but as soon as I logged into my YouTube account it forced the page with the live stream to reload and the live chat took 20 secs to populate!

I tried other streams with chats that were shown prior in this thread and the issue is still happening on [
Version 1.45.68 Chromium: 106.0.5249.55 (Official Build) beta (64-bit) in another new profile. With a private tab I have seen some of the above streams have the chat populate fine (prerecorded stream) while others (first two provided above) still have issues with displaying the live chat in a private window.

This is extremely frustrating.

I have opened a Github problem report regarding this issue and if someone else has this issue I would strongly suggest adding it to that report.

@fedup Admittedly, it’s not much of a priority compared to other problems. But other issue, it really helps if you tag people when you respond. Just like I tagged you here. The reason for that is it creates a notification for the person. Generic replies like yours doesn’t notify anyone. Without notifications, you may as well say your issue will be long forgotten. There’s just way too many things to navigate around and do.

That said, it’s currently the weekend so the chances of anyone from Brave responding in the next 48 hours or so is reduced. Sometimes you get lucky with @fanboynz but have to see.

And @fanboynz, as you may have seen from prior posts, I was able to duplicate the issue, though it was intermittent. I didn’t I even just tried it at with Shields off and then again with Shields on. Initially it loaded with no problem. But refreshing 2-3 times, it finally hung up and took like 30 seconds or so to load the Live Chat.

I then went over to Chrome and tried but couldn’t replicate the problem. So it does seem to be Brave exclusive overall.

@Saoiray Other than you being able to duplicate the issue I have seen no one else from Brave saying that they have seen this issue. I thankfully have seen posts from other users here and on the Brave subreddit but again you were the only person from Brave that has seen the issue.

I have spent a fair amount of time trying things thinking it was something I did that caused this issue. This is not the first time I have seen this problem occur with Brave. The last time I believe was last year and the issue came and went without me doing anything other than having to put up with it for a couple of months at the time.

Yup still no fix even after recent updates. Obviously very low priority

Just to clarify any misunderstandings, I’m not from Brave. As for Community Ninja, it’s just one of many badges that you can get here on Brave Community. Yeah, it’s tricky. When I just navigate as usual, I have no issues. It seems to only occur by me refreshing or jumping around a bit. Part of me is wanting to assume it’s something on Google’s end, such as how they might be limiting so resources don’t get hogged up. I do know there have been some bigger issues that are being worked on in general, but hoping we can get this tested more and checked out. I mean, we have @fanboynz tagged and next person who usually helps with browser issues would be @Mattches . I’m wanting to hope either one will figure it out themselves or help pass it along to whoever can look into it more and try to resolve for everyone experiencing it.

Just keep in mind, a lot of the people here for Support are also working on projects in between. They constantly bounce around and prioritize things. Not going to say this will get ignored, but it may take time. The more people reporting the issue and the easier it is to replicate, the more attention it gets and the faster it is handled.

Something in Brave back in Sept caused this issue and you are right about low priority. They have significant problems to fix no doubt. Me I think it is time for me to take a break from using Brave as my primary browser. Going to try going back to Firefox here for a week at least.

Bump. Still no sign of improvement even after a further 2 point updates.

I tried Firefox for a week but I discovered an issue with it and Reddit c&p although no issue with YouTube chat. So back to Brave. Another quirk I had in YT live chat session was when I had I directed multiple posts to a particular user via @username followed by text and a text emoticon all of the text disappeared and only the emoticon remained. I will have to keep an eye out for that quirk to see if reappears in other streams.

Even going to the Nightly build here of Brave did not affect the live chat populate times. It is still 20 seconds or so.

Like you, I have tried Chromium and Firefox. Once you install adblockers etc they are… OKish. I’m not sure why but I just don’t like the look and feel of Firefox.
Another bug I have noticed is with Startpage, the search engine. I have to disable the Brave shields for it to work properly. With the shields up you don’t get the options to refine a search by time or region. BUT with shields off you get half a page of ‘sponsored results’ and adverts before the results you want.
As for that bug with the emoticon being the only thing left sometimes, I too have seen this recently and also some other non-Brave users. So I guess that’s more of a YT issue. They seem to be great at breaking everything but still can’t stop the spam bots.
Manjaro has had two Brave point updates in the past week. I’m not sure what they fix but I certainly can’t see any improvements.

No problem with keeping the thread alive. Did it myself for a year regarding another issue. I like to see that others are experiencing the same issues as that confirms it is not something localized to my installation.

Someone on Reddit said they disabled caching for YouTube and it helped. They then reenabled cache and the chat load issue did not reoccur. I tried that in the beta of Brave and no effect.

Regarding the emoticons and text disappearing again I am glad that you saw it as well. Perhaps its YouTube bot/scammer protection was active in that particular channel. I don’t know.
