YouTubeにおいて、Brave標準のAdブロッカーをONにするとエラーが発生する - Web Compatibility

2026年5月23日にWindows Updateと各種デバイスドライバ、ソフトウェアのアップデートを行い、再起動してBraveブラウザを起動し、YouTubeの動画を再生しようとすると必ずエラーが発生するようになりました。月例Windows Update実施後は必ず、コマンドプロンプトでシステムチェックを実施して異常がないか？を確認しているため、Windows OSそのもののエラーではないことは間違いないと断定できます。OSはWindows 11 Home 25H2です。

Braveのバージョンは1.90.124、Chromiumエンジンのバージョンは148.0.7778.179で、拡張機能等は一切入れておらず、ブラウザの設定もWindows Update前後で一切弄っておりません。

試しに標準AdブロッカーをOFFにした所、YouTubeの動画が正常に再生されるようになったため、YouTube側のAdブロッカー対策と競合してエラーが発生した…と考えております。以前からBraveとYouTubeで広告ブロックについていたちごっこが続いていたことは承知していましたが、これ以上の対応が限界であるならば、今後はYouTubeを初め、Adブロッカー機能をONにすると動作がおかしくなるサイトについてはAdブロッカー機能をOFFにして運用しようと考えています。

この件と関係あるかもしれないので一応、追加で報告しておきますが、Adブロッカー機能をONにした状態でもYouTube動画が正常に再生される時期に、一部動画にて「途中でエラーが発生して動画再生が停止し、再読み込みしてもエラー発生箇所で同じエラーが発生して止まってしまう」現象を確認しております。

Translation:

“On May 23, 2026, after performing Windows Update along with updates for various device drivers and software, then restarting and launching the Brave browser, I began consistently encountering errors whenever trying to play YouTube videos. After every monthly Windows Update, I always run system checks via Command Prompt to verify there are no issues, so I can confidently conclude that the problem is not caused by the Windows OS itself. The OS is Windows 11 Home 25H2.

The Brave version is 1.90.124, and the Chromium engine version is 148.0.7778.179. I have not installed any extensions, and I have not changed any browser settings before or after the Windows Update.

As a test, I turned off the built-in ad blocker, and YouTube videos started playing normally again. Therefore, I believe the error is caused by a conflict between YouTube’s anti-ad-block measures and Brave’s ad blocker. I was already aware that Brave and YouTube have been engaged in an ongoing cat-and-mouse game regarding ad blocking, but if this is the limit of what can be done, then going forward I plan to disable the ad blocker on sites like YouTube where enabling it causes problems.

This may or may not be related, but I’ll report it additionally just in case: even during periods when YouTube videos could play normally with the ad blocker enabled, I observed an issue with some videos where ‘an error would occur partway through playback, causing the video to stop, and even after reloading, the same error would occur at the exact same point and playback would stop again.’”

確認しました。平時のアップデートで再度、機能するまで現状維持で様子見します。

書き忘れていましたが、Adブロック機能との衝突については以前からあったのか、ほぼ全ての動画にて、再生前に「動画が正しく再生されませんんか？」という警告文が出ていたのも確認しています。

一応、リストのアップデートは実行しました。

あとは先述の通り、平時のアップデートによる対応を待つことにします。

念のため整理しますと、@fanboynz が言っているのは（brave://settings/shields/filtersで）Experimental ad blockerが有効ならそれを無効にせよ、またはExperimental ad blockerの更新を待てということです。もし有効にされていない場合は別の話となります。

これは衝突ではなく、デバッグの都合で（デフォルトでは）意図的にブロックしないようにしています。

警告文の件、了解しました。なお、一部動画の再生が途中でエラーが発生して止まる現象はシールド機能をOFFにしても発生したので、YouTube含めて、何処かに問題があると考えます。

Experimental ad blocker機能ですが、この手のリストはデフォルトのまま弄っておらず、確認したらOFFだったので「使っていない」ということになります。念のため、ONにした場合も試しましたが同じで、シールド機能をOFFにすると問題なく再生されます。

また、Android版でも同様の問題が発生するようになるのを確認しました。Chromiumエンジンのバージョンは同一、Braveバージョンは1.90.125、OSはAndroid 16(Google Pixel 9a)になります。こちらはシールド機能をOFFにしなくても、エラーが発生した状態で更新、再読み込みをかけると再生できることがあることを確認しました。同様の方法がPCでも通用するかは未確認です。

また、シークレットウィンドウでの挙動も試していないので、後で確認してみることにします。

Experimental ad blockerとは別の問題を確認し先ほど修正しました。1-2時間ほどで反映されると思います。
たった今（12:23）再修正したので追加で1-2時間ほど待ってください。

The issue has been resolved now.

先ほど、PCをスリープから復帰させたばかりなので、手動で再修正された方を適用させて頂きました。

その後、BraveシールドをONにした状態でYouTubeを閲覧した結果、従来通り再生されるようになったのを確認し、問題の解決を把握しました。

迅速な対応に感謝します。PC使用中、Android側は主にアプリを使って動画再生をさせているので、自動更新を待つか、後で手動更新してみます。
