Window Volume Mixer

:puzzle_piece: Request: Per-Tab or Per-Window Volume Mixer in Brave Browser

Hello Brave team :waving_hand:

I’d like to suggest a very useful feature to improve the multimedia experience:
a volume mixer for individual tabs or windows within the browser.

:light_bulb: Idea

Add a separate volume control for each active tab or window.
This would allow adjusting the sound of a video, music, or call without affecting the system-wide volume or audio from other tabs.

:bullseye: Example Use Cases

  • Keep YouTube music in one tab at low volume while attending a video call or watching an educational video in another tab.

  • Mute or lower the volume of a specific site without pausing or changing the general system volume.

:wrench: Possible Implementations

  • A small speaker icon on each tab (like the current “sound active” icon) with a draggable volume slider.

  • Or a centralized mixer accessible from the main menu or under “Settings > Audio.”

:speech_balloon: Benefit

It would give users more control and eliminate the need for external tools or OS-level adjustments.
Especially helpful for users consuming multimedia or working with multiple active tabs simultaneously.

Thank you for considering this suggestion :folded_hands:
This would be a distinctive and very practical feature for Brave!

I feel like you (@toba12) and @Chief_Rolo should talk and put together a Feature Request concerning sound… see @Chief_Rolo’s post below.

You might also consider taking it to G**gle as it could be an upstream Chromium feature.

Unless you two are the same person  :winking_face_with_tongue:
