When scrolling hebrew pages very often all text selected

Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. try any linux distribution and use a hebrew page and scroll with the scroll bar. often much or all the text on the page will be selected.

  2. i’ve tried more than one distribution with the same results.

  3. i’m not sure if it is only on hebrew pages..

Expected result: text on the page getting selected.

Brave Version( check About Brave): Brave 1.83.120 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:

no one cares?

ive noticed nobody answered

i think there is a gap to the right of the scroll bar..

here is a demonstration

i’m all the way to the right but still it is not always selecting the scroll bar

edit..

if you want i can make full screen video of scrolling too.. with the problem..

@gassedgas thank you for the information.
Can you please tell me what Linux distro you’re using at this time?

Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS

tell me if you need anything else

actually i think it is in every page. english too..

here is an example

have i said something wrong?

@gassedgas you have said nothing wrong. @Mattches often does not actively work here on Brave Community on weekends, hence the past couple days of silence. And he did not post today so I’m guessing he might have had the day off as well.

I know he’ll try to follow up here in a bit and likely has some of the dev team looking into things. If he’s not back tomorrow then I’ll tag others from Brave so they can provide any feedback or follow-up.

Thanks for your patience.

@gassedgas doesn’t look like we’re seeing this on our end. Can I ask if you installed the browser via a package manager like snap or flatpak? Or via apt instructions on our website (brave.com/linux)?

i’ve installed it with the package manager..

should i try the website instructions instead? and if yes. do i need to first uninstall the current one?

Yeah I would try that out. You should uninstall first yes, but don’t delete your profile data. You might even want to make a safe copy of it just to be sure (just copy the ~/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/ directory to somewhere safe.

Then install from brave.com/linux and see if the issue occurs there too and let me know.

the Brave-Browser directory is empty..

edit.. found it under..

/home/is/snap/brave/common/.cache/BraveSoftware

the problem with the scrolling is the same with brave installed from the website

Thank you for testing. Will have to do some more digging on this and will likely file an issue as well.

tnx

i want to switch back to the one installed from the app center..

i don’t really know how to use the backup folder for that case..

the last time i tried i copied just to see that i get a new profile without any content..

i mean i did what was written but started with brave from scratch..

ideas plase

is there a simple guide or a video guide that you recommend for copying the profile folder as a backup and re-utilizing it? because it failed to me when i tried..

it is tiring to configure everything from scratch when you switch between installations..

did you discovered anything about the problem?
