This is due to a known issue, documented here: And was fixed by hiding the microphone (which other browsers have adapted as well) in this pull request here: The reason this is still an “issue” and is not “fixed” is due to the fact that the way Google has their API for this feature set up essentially (paraphrasing here) requires that your data be sent through Google, which is something we actively try to prevent.
