Unknown node type: div - rendering error shows in online textbook after update

Just updated Brave and now I get this div error in my online textbook. Thought you might like to know.

Hello! I’m having the same problem in other browsers with Pearson, I think it’s on their end.

Works fine on Firefox for me.

I’m seeing the same issue with a Pearson ebook. Mathematical notation that renders correctly in Chrome and Firefox shows Unknown node type: div in Brave.

I’ve already ruled out the usual profile/site issues, including testing with a completely new Brave profile. The problem persists in Brave, while the exact same textbook page displays normally in a different browser on the same computer.

In my case, the error appears around math notation. The symbols themselves still appear, but an Unknown node type: div box is inserted immediately before them. This seems to point to a Brave-specific rendering/parser issue rather than an extension, cache, or site-permission problem.

Issue just came up for me as well. It does not appear to actually be missing any text (I compared the text with what firefox rendered). So it isn’t actually failing to render any specific symbols on my end. The error is just extremely prevalent and breaking up my text. I am not missing any text, but it’s just insufferable to read and skip all the blocks.

Got the same issue here. All of the text is still there from the source, but it’s gonna get annoying having those yellow blocks everywhere. There is most likely some sort of front-end issue on Brave here.

I fed issue to ChatGPT - response:

Pearson’s content renderer is encountering a DOM structure it doesn’t expect

The Pearson textbook appears to have a fairly complicated content/math rendering pipeline. The errors occur precisely where mathematical inline objects occur, across several completely unrelated subjects.

That strongly suggests that the common factor isn’t the textbook’s accounting, statistics, chemistry, and calculus text. It’s the shared mathematical-content representation/rendering component.
