  1. BJust go to x.com and try to open any post with a link.
  2. When we are redirected to a new page, the link https://t.co/ does not open.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem of not opening native X.com shortened links?

You are likely being blocked by an ad blocker or a hosts file, possibly the ones produced by Peter Lowe. Consider removing them if applicable.

I disabled all extensions and the default x.com URL shortener page still doesn’t work on Brave

Look

Brave censors or blocks it by default. I believe a license review is needed.

What “default” x.com page are you referring to?

Curious to see where you’re clicking from. On this where you show it blocked, I typed in the same address which was https://t.co/LOol4mCg2f that you have on top. Once I submitted, it redirected to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGuIn5YJcZU with no issues.

But what you’re showing in this particular screenshot seems to be an issue related to HTTPS. You are given the option to continue, it’s just warning to let you know it’s HTTP rather than HTTPS that’s being loaded/redirected

Here’s an example:

Any news link posted on x.com is converted to a URL, automatically shortening it, this one ( https://t.co/xMK3npD1ZL ) as an example, where the original link is this: ( https://revistaoeste.com/politica/lewandowski-na-mira-da-camara-por-escolta-ilegal-em-congonhas/ ).

But unfortunately, the Brase Browser doesn’t even open the shortened url to the original link.
Brave is automatically blocking the shortened URL on x.com. Got it?

)

Works for me without any issue.

Can you please try launching a guest profile (Menu --> More tools --> Guest profile), closing your original profile window, and try visiting the link in the guest window?

If I click next here, it takes me to the standard and official Google search page.

It’s not working for me

Checked with https://x.com/revistaoeste/status/1924869143901175818

Clicking it uses https://t.co/a2yiv42G4t which then immediately opens to https://revistaoeste.com/politica/mauro-vieira-diz-que-lula-pediu-auxilio-a-janja-para-falar-sobre-o-tiktok-na-china/

If you disable Shields, do you see the same issue? Or if you try in a private window?

Outra URL ( https://t.co/cUEc60KccQ ) aleatĂłria do x.com que nĂŁo abre no navegador Brave.

I think it is very likely one of the many extensions you have installed in the browser that is causing the issue. I haven’t had any issues visiting any of the shortened linked you’ve shared here. Tested on macOS, Win11 and Linux (Ubuntu) and the link lands every time for me.

Can you please try downloading and running the Beta build of the browser (you can uninstall/delete it after testing if you’d like) and tell me if you get the same behavior there?

Yes! Even with Shield disabled, the page does not open the shortened URL.

See the image below, once again:

As I previously reported

I disabled all extensions, restarted Brave, and the pattern is the same. It doesn’t open the shortened URL of x.com

Does it work in the Beta build of the browser?

I use Linux and I don’t install the beta test version.

@Serial.com though your message is a bit different, I’m wondering if it may be similar solution. Can you check the below?

GOLDEN tip, friend

It worked! Thank you very much!

I changed from default to cloudflare 1.1.1.1

The open page: https://t.co/a2yiv42G4t
https://revistaoeste.com/politica/mauro-vieira-diz-que-lula-pediu-auxilio-a-janja-para-falar-sobre-o-tiktok-na-china/

@Serial.com glad to hear it. So that may be a solution. Otherwise I’d say to possibly flush your DNS and see if it works back on the default.
