Description of the issue:
The link https://t.co/x.com link shortener extension does not open in Brave.
How can this issue be reproduced?
BJust go to x.com and try to open any post with a link.
When we are redirected to a new page, the link https://t.co/ does not open.
Expected result:
That when we click on the link https://t.co/ it opens the desired page. All other browsers open it. Only Brave doesn’t!?
Curious to see where you’re clicking from. On this where you show it blocked, I typed in the same address which was https://t.co/LOol4mCg2f that you have on top. Once I submitted, it redirected to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGuIn5YJcZU with no issues.
But what you’re showing in this particular screenshot seems to be an issue related to HTTPS. You are given the option to continue, it’s just warning to let you know it’s HTTP rather than HTTPS that’s being loaded/redirected
But unfortunately, the Brase Browser doesn’t even open the shortened url to the original link.
Brave is automatically blocking the shortened URL on x.com. Got it?
Can you please try launching a guest profile (Menu --> More tools --> Guest profile), closing your original profile window, and try visiting the link in the guest window?
I think it is very likely one of the many extensions you have installed in the browser that is causing the issue. I haven’t had any issues visiting any of the shortened linked you’ve shared here. Tested on macOS, Win11 and Linux (Ubuntu) and the link lands every time for me.
Can you please try downloading and running the Beta build of the browser (you can uninstall/delete it after testing if you’d like) and tell me if you get the same behavior there?
