Description of the issue: One of the features I genuinely loved about Chromium browsers was, that in addition to a password manager, they also featured a “password generator”, which made setting up new accounts a lot easier and saved me a lot of clicks. But for approximately 2 or 3 months now, the option is just…absent for me. I first thought it might be a bug that will be fixed. But since this didn’t happen thus far, I just wanted to know if this is maybe a “Me-Problem” (aka a Bug), if I can re-enable it somehow (tho I didn’t find any option for it), or if the Brave-team really has decided to get rid of that function for whatever reason.
Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): When setting up an account,
- click into the “password”-field
OR - right-click into said field to open the context menu
Actual Result: Both the formerly present pop-up dialogue for creating a password, as well as the corresponding entry in the context menu, are absent.
Expected result:
-
- The dialogue “Generate secure password” should pop up when clicking into a “Password”-field during account setup
- The entry “Generate secure password” should be displayed in the context menu, when right-clicking into said field
Reproduces how often: Every time.
Operating System and Brave Version: Windows 11/Android 16 (both Brave-Ver. 1.80.115; German UI and Geo-Location in EU)
Additional Information: I am aware of the fact that there are “generators” out there in the form of websites or plug-ins to do that job. But aside from me not really wanting to use third-party tools for generating passwords, all of those options are still way less convenient than the option that was natively integrated into Brave. So please refrain from posting those as solutions.
