'' Sync is disabled by your administrator. ''

I was trying to sync my phone with my computer in brave browser but the brave in my computer said ‘’ Sync is disabled by your administrator. ‘’ under the sync tab in settings .
I saw some other topic’s say go to ‘’ brave://sync-internals ‘’ and click on ‘’ Disable Sync (Clear data) ‘’ but when i opened the site ‘’ brave://sync-internals ‘’ there was no button called ‘’ Disable Sync (Clear data) ‘’ .
I also found someone made a tutorial in YouTube about this and I’m pretty sure I don’t have the button .

Are you running Brave as an administrator? If you visit brave://components do you see any update errors?

I don’t see any errors when I visit brave://components and I’m not running brave as an administrator .

@Spesclest when you see things like the message you’re stating, then it makes it sound like you have a Group Policy enabled. Is this a personal computer or one used at your workplace?

And your screenshot kind of shows that this is indeed your problem, as it’s showing Enterprise.

I’d say to check brave://policy and advise if anything shows up there.

Regardless, it seems like your device is set up for enterprise, with some controls/limitations of what it can do.

The screen I see is this when I open the brave://policy and no this is my personal computer I use at home currently running Windows 11 Home .

@Spesclest well you somehow enabled a bunch of policies. I don’t know if it was you or someone with access to your device. Or if perhaps you tried installing something from another location than Brave’s official site.

So what you’re showing is that you have Rewards, VPN, Wallet, and Sync all disabled. This means you can’t turn them on even if you wanted, at least not until that gets changed via the group policy. This is something on your device and not done through the browser itself.

While setting up this computer I used an tool called winutil to debloat windows etc. and there was an option called debloat brave and wanted to try it for the first time.
I guess that’s the reason .
I will fix it up from the script .
Thank you so much for your help

I had this exact thing happen to me today on a client’s new PC. Using Chris Titus Tech Windows Tool, and performing “Debloat Brave” disabled sync.

I could see in corporate environments, you may want sync disabled… so, I’m not upset that it did it, just reversed the change, and it immediately came back.

Happened the same with me after using WinUtil.
