Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. iPhone (iOS 26.6.1) Brave mobile (1.9.3 (136) MacBook Pro (Chip Apple Ms Pro) macOS Tahoe (26.6.2). From iPhone Settings tab, Sync tab, “Devices on sync chain” states: iPhone (This Device), I clicked “Add New Device”…selected “Computer” from “Choose Device Type”.

  2. The next screen that pops up on the iPhone is: “Add a Computer” with two possibilities - QR Code or Code Words. Instructions are to “Enter the sync code” On your device (my MacBook Pro), I went to Sync in the Settings and clicked on the Sync tab. Results were “Manage your synced devices”. Clicked on that option. The “Device List” includes MacBook-Pro (This Device" (Last Active Mon Aug 31 2026. Options are "View Sync Code or Add New Device.

  3. There is no “I have a Sync Code” option. Clicking the “View Sync Code” option results in a Sync Chain Code that doesn’t match the Sync code on the phone.

  4. I assume clicking the QR code on either device wouldn’t correspond to the QR code on the second device.

Expected result:

Brave Version( check About Brave): Version is 1.94.117 (Official Build) (arm 64) Chromium 152.0.7977.64 and it indicates that Brave is up to date

Do you need any additional information than that provided in the message just prior to this reply?

@noname2 it seems like what might be happening is that you’re creating a Sync chain on both devices in step 2.

I would also recommend creating the Sync chain on your macOS system first, then adding your phone to it as it’s easier to scan the QR code with your phone’s camera than entering the code words. That is just a suggestion however and you can do this however you’d like, but I’ve used that method in the example below.

Please try the following to Sync your devices:

  1. On both devices, go to Settings > Sync and delete/leave the Sync chain so that we start fresh.
  2. On your macOS, return again to Settings > Sync and start a Sync chain. Don’t add any devices just yet, just get the chain started.
  3. Now launch Brave on your iOS device, go to Settings > Sync > I have a Sync code – you should see the QR code scanner show up.
  4. On your macOS, go to Settings > Sync > View code and click the QR code option
  5. Scan it with your iOS device

Now you should be good to go.

Hello, Mattches – after reading your instructions from your most recent message, and following steps 1 and 2 I performed step 3 and got this result (I’ve taken a screenshot of your instructions and the results of steps 1,2 and 3. I’ll try to find a way to send it to you.

Performing step 3 on iOS, resulted in this: “Devices on sync chain” - iPhone (This Device) and an option to “Add New Device”. (By the way, your instructions for step 3 were to: “Now launch Brave on your iOS device”. Since it’s already on the device, I didn’t uninstall it first. Is that the reason for the response I got (there is no “I have a Sync code” option?

You appear to have done these in the reverse order. I specifically listed those steps in that order to make things as easy as possible. Please review the steps and try again:

  1. Delete the Sync chain from both devices (you should not have a Sync chain on either)
  2. Start a Sync chain on macOS (Settings > Sync > Start a new Synch Chain > Computer > OK). On macOS your should now see a screen like this:
  3. Click View Sync code > View QR code
  4. Launch Brave on your iOS device, Settings > Sync > I have a Sync code
  5. Scan the QR code on your macOS.
