Hello again Brave Community,
I have a suggestion and just going to tag @steeven since you deal with Release Notes and I feel it’s somewhat related…
My suggestion is, within About Brave brave://settings/help have TWO links to click on below where it (currently, at the time of this writing) says:
Brave 1.83.120 (Official Build) (arm64)
Chromium: 141.0.7390.122
With the words & the hyperlinks:
EXTERNAL: https://brave.com/latest/
(as it currently does but just add the hyperlink to the word EXTERNAL, caps or not
), and then also add)…
INTERNAL: brave://version/
I recently went digging and found Brave URLs chrome://chrome-urls/ (err brave://chrome-urls/
) and found the Brave Version link and thought that was super helpful to have handy, e.g. quickly identifying Brave Profiles within the system. (and yes, I have made a bookmark for myself).
But I think a casually placed link there might be helpful for other users as well, who don’t go digging THAT much (most of the chrome-urls are certainly irrelevant to the average user but that amongst brave://apps, brave://flags and brave://components are a bit more useful).
There isn’t anything within Brave Version internal link that a user could screw things up with (unlike brave://flags) unless they purposefully go into the internal systems and mess around, which I would think the average user just wouldn’t do anyway (hopefully people know their limits
), though just to be safe you could also provide a header warning or something if really necessary.
Anyway just some thoughts, I think the average user stumbling on brave://version/ would be helpful
it was for me anyway. ![]()
EDIT:
APPS!
Also, I think adding Apps brave://apps to the main Settings Sidebar would be helpful too (maybe above or below the brave://settings/extensions link… I personally just don’t use them as much so it’s not a big deal to me.
