Device: Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra OS: Fully Updated Android Brave Version: Latest (as of June 2026)
Issue: The automatic tab grouping feature is enabled by default and cannot be disabled
Evidence of Missing Setting: Previous help documentation and support claims suggested a toggle exists under Settings > Brave > Tabs and tab groups. This is false. I have attached a screenshot of the exact menu mentioned. The menu only contains:
“Move to inactive section”
“Automatically open tab groups from other devices”
There is no toggle to disable the “Tab Groups” feature itself. The “Enable Tab Groups” option referenced in older support articles is completely missing from the current UI.
AI Failure: The built-in Leo AI assistant on this device incorrectly stated that a “Tab groups” toggle exists in this menu and instructed me to turn it off. The AI hallucinated a setting that does not exist, wasting my time and providing false information. This indicates a critical failure in the AI’s ability to read the app’s actual UI or access up-to-date internal documentation.
Request:
Restore the “Disable Tab Groups” toggle in Settings > Appearance (or a similar logical location) immediately.
Fix the AI Assistant so it does not hallucinate non-existent settings. It must be grounded in the actual current UI state of the app.
Acknowledge that the current forced auto-grouping on Android is a regression in user control.
Without a toggle, this feature is forced on users who explicitly do not want it.
