My environment:
OS: MX Linux 19.4
Brave browser: Version 1.24.82 Chromium: 90.0.4430.93 (Official Build) (64-bit)
I’m pretty sure that few years back, when I was using Windows 8.1 + FF, FF could handle ftp, now I’m using Linux, tried both Brave and FF, none worked with ftp, do you need to use another app (in my case I had to use FileZilla) to handle ftp or I’m missing something here?

When tried to open an ftp (it’s a link to download a file), the browser just went to previous page, nothing happened, this happened with Brave and FF.

Chrome removed ftp access a while back, which also came over to Brave. Firefox is also removing ftp btw. If you use a dedicated ftp client like Filezilla, that’ll be the best option.
