Sidebar Is Way Too Wide

Description of the issue:
Would like to use the sidebar as a narrow bookmarks bar, but the current sidebar is way too wide. It can be drug wider, but not narrower. If no way to do this, there needs to be.
Thanks

This Extension appears to accomplish goal after some config…

The extension "Bookmark Sidebar" appears to be able to do this, but its different levels of configuration screens are very confusing, and often dysfunctional.

The panel itself has a limit on how thin it can be but the actual sidebar is just as thin. To clarify:

If you want to use the sidebar as a “narrow bookmarks bar” – which I assume means just adding a bunch of sites to the sidebar – just don’t open any of the panels and leave the sidebar there.

Brave does not allow you to pin an entire folder or your full bookmark tree directly onto that thin sidebar strip.

The built-in thin sidebar strip is strictly limited to single web links. If you try to drag an entire folder onto it, Brave will reject it, and clicking the + button only allows you to select individual active websites.

A few sites, yes. A folder tree, no.

Thanks for clarifying sidebar vs side panel.

Well that’s not really what the sidebar is for.

The bookmarks panel displays as a tree that you can use – even though it’s not “thin” like you want it’s probably the best/closest thing you’re looking for:

Isn’t this kind of missing the point? It’s not about bookmarks; it’s about the minimum sidebar width in general. So this also applies to Leo, Reading List, and anything else in the sidebar. It’s far too wide - it’s over 1/3 of the width. There’s no reason I see that it can’t be made narrower, but there’s something in the code stopping it. I’m on macOS but it’s presumably the same for Windows.
