Show downloads when they're done - NOT WORKING ANYMORE

As of today the option to “Show downloads when they’re done” completely stopped working for me. I did try to toggle it off & on miltiple times. Each time I restarted the Brave Browser but the issue remains the same. My brave browser has been updated to the latest version that is “Brave 1.80.124 (Official Build) (64-bit)” I am using Brave on my desktop pc with Windows 10 Pro.
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open an downloadable file.
  2. Click on download.
  3. The download icons does not show at all.

To at least show the download button appear next to my address bar

Brave 1.80.124 (Official Build) (64-bit):

Everytime I have to press CTRL+J to open the downloads page to check if the files has downloaded or not.

@Muxcled thank you for the detailed report.
Not seeing this same issue on my end – the download icon appears in the toolbar when I download a file as it always has.

Do you by chance have many extensions installed? And further, do you have them all pinned to the toolbar?

Same Problem experience as of today, any solution to this?

I am facing the same issue today.

Same issue here on my work profile. For some reason, the personal profile is fine. I did what Mattches suggested and that worked, the download button shows up again. But that does not explain why it shows up on my personal profile despite having more extensions pinned than the work profile.

It showed up when I unpinned all but 1 extension. Even with 2 extensions, I cannot see downloads.

Earlier it used to work irrespective of the number of extensions pinned. I have had 6+ extensions pinned and still saw downloads show up when finished.

Same damn issue i got, what can solve this?

I am still facing it as we speak. It started acting out yesterday everything was working fine. I did not change anything at all no new extensions. I had four extensions next to my address bar and I have already toggled Use wide address bar to off previously. Yet whenever I download the download icon (Arrow does not show up). Its quite frustrating not to know if something was downloaded adding up multiple click or pressing CTRL+J to check the download.

Unpinning all my extensions did not work for me at all.

The issue on update.

Thank you all for reporting.
I’ve logged the following issue for our devs to review:

I read your post at https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/47945

But under

Assignees it shows that No one assigned ?

How and when will Devs look after the bug report ? Please let us know our work is severely being affected by this issue. If this is not fixed soon we will forced to migrate and use another browser.

Same issue here, the downloaded files are showing up, but the icon in the browser doesn’t. There are also times where the downloaded file shows like this.

@renz

That icon represents an incomplete download attempt.

I now get that alot, with latest Brave Browser (MacOS).

The problem isn’t with Brave v1.80.124 or older versions. It may come from (or be caused by) the IDM Integration Module extension, specifically the newly released v6.42.42 update. Disabling it will make the download button come back.

Yes, I del IDM Integration Module extension, Download icon appear

Just tried disabling my IDM extension, now the download icon’s back. Thank you for this.

Hello Brave Support Team,

I am currently experiencing an issue with the Brave browser on my PC related to downloads. Usually, after completing a file download, a tooltip would appear in the top right corner of the browser. However, now when I click on a download link, no tooltip shows up as before. This is quite inconvenient because I have to press Ctrl + J to check my downloads.

Please assist me in resolving this issue. All three of my computers are affected by this problem.

Brave version: 1.80.124

Thank you very much for your support.

I’m facing the exact same issue in my two devices.

Brave Version: 1.80.124 64-bit
Chromium: 138.0.7204.168

Update: Turning OFF/ON IDM (Internet Download Manger) extension resolved the issue.
