As some of you, at the time of this posting, MAY have noticed I’ve been around a lot recently (and for those of you who may have not noticed this) and therefore, just want to say, that I am ALSO a huge fan of this Browser (& most of the time this Community ).
And so I thought I’d ask…
just to share some more positivity for one
and in the same vain as the user over at Share your Brave Stats asked (obviously) about STATS, that I would ask…
WHAT BRAVE EXTENSIONS DO YOU USE?
& Some Follow Ups:
WHY (or HOW ) DO YOU USE EACH ONE?
WHY DO YOU NOT USE THEM, IF YOU SO CHOOSE?
I think this can be a healthy and helpful discussion
(again, let’s keep things positive and non-judgemental of other peoples choices)
and people could maybe learn a lot (including myself)
as well, because:
Some extensions can be problematic for issues as is often asked for during troubelshooting.
ALSO, there might now be features already BUILT-IN to Brave that users may have missed and are unaware of that makes some of their extensions redundant. (I may have some myself honestly).
So what do you use?
This is aimed at ALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS, so I’d also be curious to hear from some of the BRAVE EMPLOYEES as well if any of you are willing and reading this
Disclaimer: And to those who don’t want to respond, we certainly respect your right to privacy
(I was hesitant to share mine and create this post but figured there would be no harm in doing so).
(Note: I’ll answer for my own in a following Reply, I just want to get the question asked first )
AdGuard - Because I have a Lifetime subscription of it and not just on Brave
(I’m curious how redundant it is, though I do mostly only use Brave for Browsing I have more than 0 stats in AdGuard itself)
DarkReader - Because I love Dark Mode:
Ghostery - To Easily Identify Elements on Websites
(though again I’m not sure how redundant this one is in other aspects / how helpful it is most of the time haha):
NoScript - (Using Ghostery + Brave Shields) to then decide which Scripts I want to Block (or Allow) on a Per Site Basis:
So that’s mine, I welcome feedback, though again, please, do be kind while sharing/commenting/replying to my and others choices
Better History because sometimes I want to track down things I did on a specific date months ago. This is awesome because it even filters by hour. If you ever thought the history page should be better designed for searching, then this is exactly what you need.
Dark Reader because why not? If this is your first time with Dark reader, activate the new design with these instructions. Dynamic mode works for most things. A few websites may give you issues, but you can change the theme for those individual sites. Can be anything from changing theme to filter, filter+, or static to changing colors, brightness, contrast etc.
In the screenshot below, I changed background and foreground colors.
Screen Dimmer. I don’t use it much, but sometimes my eyes need it.
Web Scraper. I haven’t found anything better this.
A recent addition:
Web Highlighter. To interact more with articles I read. Highlight, make notes as I read instead of delegating the notetaking to later. I later transfer them into my notetaking app for linking with other notes I have. Copying the Markdown is great when doing the transfers.
