Search suggestions from the opensearch provider detected in address bar

If one types the beginning of an opensearch provider (known by browsing history or similar) into the address bar, Brave suggests to hit TAB to search with this search provider. That’s an excellent feature. But I never get any search suggestions from the selected search provider if I continue with a search query. Suggestions seem to come from the preferred general search engine.
