Screenshot broken on Linux Mint

Description of the issue: Screenshot no longer works properly. The screenshot has an alignment issue.

Exact URL of the website in question: All websites

Did the issue present with default Shields settings? (yes/no) yes

Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off? no

Is there a specific Shields configuration that causes the site to break? If so, tell us that configuration. (yes/no): no

Does the site work as expected when using Chrome? It used to work in brave until recently.

Brave version (check About Brave): Brave 1.93.136 (Official Build) (x86_64)

Pressing ctl Shift S - the screenshot area is offset to the bottom (far below the top bar of the browser) and the cursor is not aligned with the area being selected.

It appears this is the same issue in Screenshot tool misalignment and Taking screenshot bug.

Sorry, when I did a search before posting, I didn’t find anything.

Also, this appears in Linux Mint 22.3 and LMDE

Thanks for reporting! If you try it from our 1.94x Beta version, do you still see the same issue? Theres a screenshot feature getting released with that version.

Yes, the issue still remains. I installed the beta version, and left everything as default. Still the same problem. It would appear this is not being tested before release (beta or not).

If it’s not working for you in the latest version, try Flameshot. You can find it in the software store or install it from the official website using the terminal.

Thanks. Tried it, not to my liking. I prefer plain ol’ gnome-screenshot. Still, though, I’d really like it if it worked correctly (again) in Brave. I’m just keeping the ticket open with the updates. Every time Brave updates and doesn’t work, I’ll be sure to post. Not going to let it lapse after 30 days without a reply.

This appears to be an upstream issue, which will need to be resolved by the Chromium team.

Upgraded to Brave 1.94.119 (Official Build) (x86_64) and the issue still remains. Let’s see how long it takes the Chromium team to fix this, which I would assume means it affects any browser that is chromium based.

@shonuff The Brave team implemented a feature in their latest update called “screenshots.” I don’t know if this issue has been resolved.

Sorry, no. Still an issue. Why would they think it’s fixed without testing?
