The most recent update as of 8/29/2026 has broken something related to my pc and its handling of hardware acceleration , now both edge and brave when having it enabled cause my display to flicker, become heavily saturated, or just go black. this issue did not exist until this update was downloaded when i restarted brave.
I’m running on a Nvidia driver, on windows 11 on a pretty decent pc, i don’t understand whats causing this and its clearly a issue with either brave or Nvidia, I’m not very smart so i can’t share all my pc specs but i can try if needed.

Check this out. It could also be a MV2 plugin issue if you are using old ones..Look and see if you have disabled plugins, and if any relate to displaying in vid sites.
Windows 11 will remove your laptop GPU’s drivers if you stay on eco power mode for too long
I would start with one controlled test before changing drivers, extensions, or other settings.
In Brave, go to:
Settings → System → Use graphics acceleration when available → OFF
Then completely restart Brave and test again.
If the flickering, oversaturation, and black screen disappear, that is a useful result: it shows that the issue is associated with the hardware-accelerated graphics path. It does not, by itself, establish whether the underlying cause is Brave, Chromium, NVIDIA, or Windows.
Because you are seeing the same behavior in Edge, I would not assume that Brave alone is responsible.
If the problem continues, please provide:
- Exact NVIDIA GPU model
- NVIDIA driver version
- Windows 11 build
- “brave://gpu” output
That information should help narrow down the cause without assuming one in advance.
My monitors would turn green, sometimes both, sometimes the other monitor not displaying brave. After painstakingly navigating to settings to turn off graphics acceleration and relaunching, hasn’t happened again.

I have the same issue.
I click on another brave browser tab then screen dim for a second and I move my mouse a little bit, the screen brighten again. This is irritating. I disabled ‘Use graphics acceleration when available’ and the problem is gone but this is not the way to solve the problem.
