Brave has a solution too. Keep your browser and components up-to-date, enable Shields, don’t add custom filters, use little to no extensions, and you should be good.
Well, I just went to sleep, and now, about 9 hours has passed. YouTube is working fine now.
I have done all updates in brace components but still gives me the message that i have adblock in yt .What else should i do ? I have also deleted the cookies
Are you using extensions?
nope.I have just hard refresh
It doesnt work for me either. Youtube disabled the video player. When i disable the brave shield, it works. When I enable it again, it doesnt work.
Edit: I also deleted all youtube cookies, that didint help. It works in a private window signed out with the same extensions as in a normal window though.
I got the adblock popup warning a few days ago with the timed X button. Yesterday Youtube finally fully blocked the player. Last night up to just 10 minutes ago, after following suggestions above, Youtube with Brave + logged in + uBO have been working but then suddenly stopped. I’ve tried updating everything and disabling uBO and restarting browser and player is fully blocked again.
Youtube with Firefox + logged in + uBO has been working this whole time. It might get fully blocked eventually as well though but for now I will use FF.
I don’t get the adblock message on the mobile version of brave. maybe this info can be useful to someone.
Youtube is AB testing - if youve gotten a message - using Ublock AND/OR brave default will trigger the message and not let you proceed. This seems to be unavoidable.
Waiting for Ublock to find a solution hopefully. Not everyone gets the message yet as theyre just testing but this seems to be the end of youtube ad free days for all.
Do you think the Reddit Mod Toolbox is an extension that can trigger this issue? It seems like a fairly old program, at least the UI seems really old.
I initially had the “3 more videos” warning, then the message you mentioned, but I’ve been able to overcome it by updating Brave + brave://components, and then clearing the cache and cookies for accounts.google.com, youtube.com, youtubenocookie.com, and maybe some other subdomains of Google if that doesn’t work. Something about cookies or cache persists the message. @Saoiray seems to know about this too.
@fanboynz that update of first party filters is what would handle the cookies/cache, right? Essentially handling what should be trying to track, or that something different?
Cookies and cache not needed, though it might show the warning intermittently if a user kept clearing it before the fix.
Hmm, ok. I know I’ve been seeing some reports where people said it persisted even with Shields off but clearing cookies had it go away. No idea what’s going on as those happen. Maybe just odd timing. Figured at least would make sure to bring up in case that’s something small being missed.
The brave shield is the problem and ublock origin works without detection. version 1.52.2. Google have been testing this since july and have now implemented it in full.
The quick solution now is for Brave devs to allow custom shield settings that can be permanently saved and implemented on start up to avoid user,s changing browser.
Doing this would at least future proof this issue. it only effects one website for now.
@dutchgold you do realize that Shields and uBlock Origin run the same scripts overall, right? And Fanboynz has worked with uBlock Origin even long before Brave existed but then became employed by Brave.
In terms of you saying that should be able to have custom Shield settings, we do have that. Go to settings → shields and that’s your global settings for all websites. Then to Content Filtering to add any custom filters. But that wouldn’t do you any good for YouTube necessarily as they are changing their code to detect ablockers on a daily basis.
I am using only Shields and I have yet to see a single ad on YouTube and have not been given the adblock warning. There’s a bit of a gamble on when it shows up and for whom. Overall, if you just stick to one and follow instructions as per my original topic, the average person shouldn’t have any issues.
When it happens to me, I log out, delete cookies dns restart the browser.
I also don’t have an account. I got the notices for one day, then they ceased. I never was blocked from Boobtube.
i have multiple accounts on same browser profile , the pop only appers on one of them and it havent stopped , if change youtube accounts its fine , mean only one acc. is affected
