Privacy Settings on iOS don’t save

This has been a problem since I started using Brave app. The privacy settings under “Clear private data” are all enabled on default except for “Playlist data” and “Site and Shields Settings”. The problem is disabling the other options wouldn’t be saved and instead stay enabled.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open Brave
  2. Open the app settings (“All Settings”)
  3. Open “Shields and Privacy Settings”
  4. Scroll down to “CLEAR PRIVATE DATA”
  5. Disable whichever option i.e “Recent Search Data”, “Cache” etc.
  6. Leave the setting’s “window” (?)

Expected result:
Settings that are changed to be disabled stay disabled as intended.

Actual Result:
Checking the privacy settings after these steps, none of the disabled settings will stay disabled, not saved.

iOS Model / Ver. 1.92 (most recent updated version)

Some Brave Browser (iOS) changes and settings will not stick when using Private Browsing Only mode.

I had some website data that would not go away … until I finally Disabled Private Browsing Only and cycled through at least 2 routines of:

  • making settings changes
  • clearing cache, cookies, website data
  • complete Power Off and Shut Down of iPhone

Thank you for your answer! Following it I checked if I had turned on “Private browsing only” or not, which was not the case.

Cache, cookies and web datas are cleared out automatically because it’s default on my app and as the problem is, cannot be turned off. So I’m not sure if I have to do this manually.

Atm I’m not too optimistic that this is a simple bug but an error in the codings?
