Description of the issue: Unable to pin Brave to taskbar with context menu functionality (right click taskbar icon >> “Open in new tab”, “Open in new window”, etc.)
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Install Brave on Windows PC

  2. Attempt to add to task bar via settings “Get Started”>>“Pin to taskbar” (fails)

  3. Pin via manual workaround- ‘click and drag’ method (due to above bug)

  4. Right click icon pinned to taskbar

Expected result:

While the manual workaround exists to add a shortcut to the Windows taskbar, the shortcut only serves to open, pin/unpin, or close the application. It does not support a helpful context menu. When manually added in this way (since the prescribed method of adding via Brave settings fails), the only context menu options are limited. Screenshot below illustrates limited options>> “Brave” (opens new window), “Unpin from taskbar”, or “Close window”.

It turns out manual pinning works eventually, but there is some sort of delay. It’s not as simple as restarting the browser or the PC, but perhaps some combination. At least, I think it was the manual pinning. The settings change never provided any indication it was working.

@jake6strngr sorry – just to confirm here, you’re saying that eventually right-clicking and Pinto task bar did work?

Yes, but it is unclear what intervention worked.

I tried pinning via the settings.

Also, I pinned manually.

Neither produced a context menu.

Pinning via the settings didn’t even add it to the task bar at all.

Manually pinning added to the task bar but did not initially produce a context menu. I restarted the application, and restarted my PC with no immediate effect. I happened to check again some time after I submitted this post and, somehow there was a working context menu upon right clicking the taskbar pin. I’m unsure what caused it to ultimately work.

I have had probs with Brave launcher pinned to taskbar. I seems it can’t see the libraries? it needs to access. Would suggest to just keep it on the desktop, especially if you use any themes.
